Raaka’s Guinness World Record: Apple Arts Studios and Neel Madhu Behind the Capture

Raaka’s Guinness World Record puts a remarkable motion-capture achievement in focus: 37 performers captured simultaneously in real time. Apple Arts Studios, our main company, was part of the technical effort behind that milestone, with founder and Motion Capture Supervisor Neel Madhu leading the studio’s contribution.

For AnimationShopee’s community of animators, filmmakers and game developers, the story offers a close look at the people and preparation behind large-scale performance capture. The headline number is impressive. The work of preserving individual performances while an entire group moves together is what makes the project worth studying.

The Raaka Guinness World Record, precisely stated

The official Guinness World Records entry lists the title “Most people motion-captured in real-time,” with 37 people in Mumbai, India, on 15 September 2026. It names Sun TV Network Limited and V. Arunkumar (alias) Atlee as the achievers, for Raaka starring Allu Arjun.

Apple Arts Studios’ role was in the motion-capture execution that supported the film’s achievement. Its project account explains that the studio built and operated the capture infrastructure and coordinated the workflow needed to handle the performers together. That contribution sits within a wider collaboration between the production, performers, creative leadership and VFX teams.

Neel Madhu and the experience behind Apple Arts Studios

Apple Arts Studios identifies Neel Madhu as its founder and Motion Capture Supervisor. In the studio’s account of the project, his responsibilities included the capture-volume design, camera configuration, calibration framework, real-time data workflow and coordination of aerial and ground-level capture.

The same account describes more than 15 years of experience behind the studio’s development. Raaka brought that accumulated work into a demanding production setting: performer preparation, marker management, technical monitoring and post-processing all had to support the same creative brief.

This is where the studio’s experience matters. A successful capture day depends on decisions made before performers enter the volume, followed by attentive operation while they work. Neel Madhu’s supervision and the Apple Arts Studios team’s practical execution connected those stages of the process.

How the 92-camera setup became a working capture system

Sun Pictures’ production announcement confirms that the record attempt used 92 optical motion-capture cameras. It also describes calibration, networking, synchronization, real-time Unreal visualization, witness cameras and facial capture as parts of the technical setup.

In its technical project story, Apple Arts Studios explains how it brought these elements together. Coverage had to account for performers moving across the space and obscuring one another. Calibration and synchronization supported consistent capture, while the team monitored the data and managed the movement information produced by each take.

For a reader new to mocap, a capture volume is the working space in which the system tracks movement. With a large ensemble inside it, keeping each person’s motion distinct becomes a central production challenge. The studio describes its task as preserving those individual performances while maintaining a stable real-time workflow.

OptiTrack’s customer spotlight on Raaka also acknowledges Apple Arts Studios’ contribution under Neel Madhu and confirms that OptiTrack technology was used. It places the studio’s work alongside Sun Pictures and the film’s wider creative and technical teams.

Capturing movement on the ground and in the air

Apple Arts Studios reports that the production included wire-assisted performers moving above the stage while other performers worked at ground level. Those sequences added another dimension to the coverage and coordination challenge.

The behind-the-scenes material makes the physical scale of this work easier to understand. Performers, the capture crew and the production team share a space where technical readiness has to support the action. The studio’s account highlights camera coverage and coordination as important to keeping aerial and ground performances within the same capture environment.

A team achievement across film and motion capture

Atlee directed Raaka, with Allu Arjun starring and Sun Pictures backing the production. Sun Pictures’ release credits Demian Gordon as Motion Capture Director. Apple Arts Studios’ account also credits Santhosh Raju as VFX producer and describes the collaboration around the film’s capture and VFX workflow.

Within Apple Arts Studios, the work extended across performer preparation, calibration, technical operations, live data monitoring, post-processing and production coordination. Recognizing that team is essential to understanding the achievement: the visible performance and the less-visible work around it had to come together.

For Apple Arts Studios and Neel Madhu, Raaka demonstrates experience in executing a complex, large-scale capture brief as part of a major film production. It also gives other production teams a concrete project to discuss when considering the studio for their own motion-capture requirements.
